Brick Painting & Limewash Services

Somewhere between boring beige and contractor white, there’s a brick color that actually makes your house look like yours.

Why Brick Painting and Limewash Make Sense Right Now

Brick is beautiful. Always has been. But even the best brick needs help sometimes. Your exterior brick surfaces have faded to that tired orangish-brown that screams 1987. Or you’ve got a brick fireplace inside that just doesn’t fit your vibe anymore. Or you’re one of those smart homeowners who knows that a fresh exterior can bump your market value without the chaos of a full renovation.

That’s where we come in. EG Contracting Services specializes in both traditional brick painting and authentic limewash applications, and we’re pretty obsessive about it. We use masonry paints that actually breathe (yes, brick needs to breathe), and when we do limewash work, we’re talking real slaked lime, not some watered-down paint pretending to be European.

We’ve worked with over 70 families who wanted their brick to look intentional again. We’re licensed, bonded, and insured, which I know sounds boring but matters when someone’s up on a ladder near your roofline. We back our work with a 2-year workmanship warranty because we’re not interested in callbacks or excuses.

What People Say About Us

Don’t just take our word for it. We’ve been fortunate enough to work with dozens of homeowners who were kind enough to share their experiences. Read through their reviews, and you’ll notice a pattern: we show up when we say we will, we do what we promise, and we leave the site cleaner than we found it. That’s the standard.

Common Questions About Brick Painting and Limewash

Absolutely. In fact, unpainted brick is often easier to work with because there’s no old paint to remove. We’ll clean it thoroughly, check for any repairs needed, and apply a primer coat before the finish. The key is using breathable masonry paints so moisture doesn’t get trapped behind the paint layer. I’ve seen too many DIY jobs fail because someone used regular exterior paint on brick, which just traps water and leads to peeling. We use products specifically designed for masonry, which makes all the difference in how long the finish lasts.

Real limewash, the kind we use, can easily last 10 to 20 years, depending on exposure and weather conditions. It doesn’t peel or flake like paint can. Instead, it slowly weathers and develops this gorgeous patina that honestly just improves the aesthetic. The beauty of limewash is that when it does need refreshing, you just apply another coat right over the old one. No stripping, no drama. It’s one of those rare finishes that actually gets better with age if you maintain it properly.

Not if you do it correctly. The horror stories you’ve heard usually involve the wrong products or zero prep work. When we paint brick, we use masonry-specific paints that allow the brick to breathe, meaning moisture vapor can still escape. We also make sure any existing moisture issues are addressed before we start. The brick itself stays perfectly fine. What damages brick is trapping moisture behind a non-breathable coating, which we specifically avoid. Our 2-year warranty backs that up.

Honestly, pretty minimal. Limewash requires almost nothing. It naturally resists dirt and mold because of its alkaline properties. Just let it do its thing. Painted brick might need occasional cleaning with a garden hose or soft brush if you’re in an area that gets dusty, but that’s about it. Every few years, walk around and check for any spots that might need touching up, though with proper application, that’s rare. Both finishes are designed to be low-maintenance, which is kind of the whole point.
